The phone rang on Friday around 2 o'clock and it was my husband, "Honey, I am so glad Katie is at home with you doing Homeschool. There was another school shooting."

As he told me the horrific and tragic news, I couldn't help but mourn for the parents left behind of these precious children that were murdered.  Then, my heart selfishly thanked God that it wasn't my Katie.

As we find out more about these children, it hits closer and closer to home.  These children were all either Katie's age or within months of her age.  6-7 short years ago, mothers were giving birth to these precious babies within months of Katie's birth.  Did they have any idea how precious every moment would be?

One victim's father said“My daughter Emilie would be one of the first ones to be standing and giving her love and support to all those victims, because that’s the kind of person she is, not because of any kind of parenting my wife and I could have done but because those are the gifts that were given to her by our heavenly Father,” source

So here comes the big question.  "Why does God allow bad things to happen? Especially to these sweet little children?"

I would encourage anyone with that question to click on this link.

It's no secret that our husband and I made the decision to teach Katie at home under God's direction.  There are so many important reasons aside from her physical safety.

Abraham Lincoln (our 16th President) stated:
"The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next."

John Dumphy, a humanist, proved Lincoln's statement to be truth when publishing his article in Humanist Magazine in 1983:
"The battle for mankind's future must be waged and won in the public school classroom.  The classroom must and will become the arena of conflict between the old and the new; the rotting corpse of Christianity and the new faith of humanism."

According to American History, there were 243 "Founding Fathers" who were significant in the birth, development, and establishment of our nation.   And for the most part, all of these men were godly men.  ALL CHRIST centered schools in their days.
In order to attend Harvard in 1636 one had to abide by it's founding statement.  It read, "The main end of your life is to know God and Jesus Christ."  160 years later in 1796 that purpose was updated to, "If you doubt the inspiration of the Scriptures you are subject to immediate dismissal from Harvard."
In order to attend Yale in 1701 one had to have a personal walk with God and to pray publicly twice a day.  Benjamin Franklin (who attended Yale) stated: "Whoever shall introduce into public affairs the principles of primitive Christianity will change the face of the world.
In order to attend Princeton back in 1746 one had to honor its code. It read, "Cursed be all that learning that is contrary to the cross of Christ."

Patrick Henry, governor of Virginia states on 6 different occasions: "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religion but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

Our 1st president, George Washington,  summed up his 45 year service to our country by stating, "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible."

Our 2nd president, John Adam, stated in his diary entry dated Feb 22, 1756:
"Suppose a nation in some distant region should take the Bible for their only lawbook, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited!....What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this region be."

Our 3rd president, Thomas Jefferson, stated in Query XVIII:
"God who gave us life and liberty.  And can the liberties of a nation be though secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God?  That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever."

James Madison 4th president, chief architect of the constitution stated in 1785:
"It is the duty of every man to render to the Creator such homage....Before any man can be considered as a member of Civil Society, he must be considered as a subject of the Governor of the Universe."

Unfortunately for America, the view that dominates the public educational system now is secularism which denies/ignores the existence of a personal God.  Now in less than one generation our government reflects a people who have little morals, little if no shame, and absolutely no desire to get back to spiritual principles.  Psalms 11:3 states the quickest way to destroy a house is to tear out its foundation.  Since the Bible is the foundation of Christianity, when faith in its validity and authority is weakened, the natural result is surrender of traditional Christianity, and the rise of faithlessness.

No nation is guaranteed immortality.  A nation lives only so long as it maintains the life-giving ideals about which it constructed it's national life.  When those ideals die, the nation dies.

Edward Gibbon (1737-1794), English historian and scholar, gave five reasons for the fall of Rome and its empire:
1.  The undermining of dignity and sanctity of the home as the basis of human society.
2. Higher and higher public expenditure of free bread and entertainment.
3. The mad craze for sports (that became increasingly sadistic)
4. The building of great weapons of war (when the real enemy was within, due to decay of individual responsibility)
5. The decay of religion within society (as faith faded into mere formality)

Sound like America?

Above quoted from The Strand Study Bible link

Though this has nothing directly to do with the shooting, there has never been a better time for parents to start evaluating.

The biggest argument of people against Homeschool is the "social" issue.   It's just not argument enough when looking at the big picture of public school system decay.

Abraham Lincoln's statement validated the truth in the scripture found in Proverbs 22:6 that states, "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
